Don's Favorite Chili

  • 2 40-oz cans chili with beans
  • 1 15-oz can "hot" chili with beans
  • 1 16-oz jar salsa 1 bottle beer (optional)
  • 30 cloves CHRISTOPHER RANCH GARLIC - peeled
  • 2 lbs. "chili grind" hamburger
  • 1 4.25 oz. jar CHRISTOPHER RANCH CHOPPED JALAPENOS or a 4 oz. can diced jalapenos
  • 6 firm tomatoes - chopped
  • 1 yellow onion - chopped
  • 1 green bell pepper - chopped
  • 3 15 oz. cans kidney beans - drained
  • 2 6 oz. cans tomato sauce

Brown meat with 1/2 the garlic cloves in a large pot.  Add the rest of the ingredients and simmer for 2 to 3 hours.  Best if refrigerated overnight so flavors can blend.  Reheat for 1 hour before serving.  Serves at least 15.



 

Garlic Tip of the Month

Garlic will last about 1 year from the time it is harvested.  It is harvested from late June thru August.  It will last longer if you keep it in a braid.  Store in a cool, dry place.
