Christopher Ranch Garlic & Cheese Grits

  • 2- cups cold water
  • 1- cup corn grits (yellow or white)
  • 1- tsp. salt
  • 1/2 - lb. sharp cheddar cheese - grated
  • 2 - Tbls. butter
  • 1 egg - beaten
  • 1/4 - tsp. Tabasco Sauce
  • 1/4 - tsp. paprika
  • 3 cloves CHRISTOPHER RANCH GARLIC - crushed

In a large saucepan, mix water, grits and salt well. Bring to simmer and cook until grits are very thick. Remove from heat. Oil 13 x 9" baking dish. Stir together in saucepan: grits and remaining ingredients. Pour into prepared dish and spread evenly. Sprinkle top with additional paprika. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes at 350 degrees.

Did you know there are over three hundred varieties of garlic in the world? There are two major varieties of garlic grown here in Gilroy. California Early has white skin and is planted in October and harvested in June. California Late is smaller with rosy purple skins, this late variety is planted in November and harvested in July & August.
